Cross Street: Doheny

One of Los Angeles' oldest clubs, the Troubadour established its reputation hosting singer-songwriters and rock bands. The venue acted as a springboard for breaking artists like Tom Waits, the Eagles and No Doubt. The crowds are varied and there are two full bars, a bench-seating balcony and a loft for VIPS. Here's your chance to catch future superstars before they start selling out amphitheaters

Big bands, small place

Sometimes you can get lucky and see some pretty big bands in this tiny place. I've seen bands like the Hellacopters and Nebula here...they both just played the Greek, and it was a lot more fun to be up in front of the stage at the Troubadour than in some sea of people at the Greek.

it's a frigging US rock institution, and still to this day has the best bookings for a club it's size in LA
