With lineups featuring a mix of yesteryear’s stadium headliners and talented local musicians who didn’t quite make it to that level, it would be easy to write off the Canyon Club as some bizarre retirement heaven for the not quite ready for Florida sunshine set. How wrong you would be. Locals and those willing to make the drive to Agoura are typically treated to stellar performances that outshine those distant memories of MTV days. Word to the wise though, get there early and reserve a table for dinner. If you’re there on a good night you can keep your seat at center stage for the whole show. After the show, well you can pretty much count on a 180° change in atmosphere as the tables disappear, the dance floor opens up, and the crowd loses about 15 years in average age. |
